Was on my way to work when i caught Dan Fogelberg's Longer on my iPod Nano. It's a beautiful, romantic feel-good song - very old-school, very heart-warming.
I can imagine the scene in 2045: a cosy log cabin, with sounds of wood crackling in the fireplace, mugs of steaming hot milo and a plate chocolate chip cookies set on the coffee table, our legs propped up on plump cushions as we sit opposite each other: the hub playing computer games on his notebook while I'm busy typing furiously away to complete my novel/blog entry/poem, silently enjoying each other's company while doing the things we each love best.
And yes, this song playing in the background.
That's how I envision the last few golden years of my life with the hub. We'd be 72 and 71 years old respectively by then. Retired and residing in some countryside. Perhaps ocasionally surrounded by several screaming grandkiddies when they visit.
Happy Anniversary Hubbums. (I know you read this occasionally, perhaps out of curiosity or just to get a feel of what your wife is up to...)
Longer
By Dan Fogelberg
Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you.
Stronger than any mountain cathedral
Truer than any tree ever grew
Deeper than any forest primeval
I am in love with you.
I'll bring fires in the winters
You'll send showers in the springs
We'll fly through the falls and summers
With love on our wings.
Through the years as the fire starts to mellow
Burning lines in the book of our lives
Though the binding cracks and the pages start to yellow
I'll be in love with you.
Longer than there've been fishes in the ocean
Higher than any bird ever flew
Longer than there've been stars up in the heavens
I've been in love with you
I am in love with you.
