no signs of labour yet

week 38 is almost over and terrorliza's still snuggled up nice and tight in the womb. she's obviously too comfortable inside to make her grand entrance.

trouble is, patience ain't one of my virtues and i'm getting mighty frustrated with all the waiting, especially since i started taking leave since monday. i feel a little upset about "wasting" a week's leave and i'm not used to being cooped up home and twiddling my thumbs waiting for signs of labour.

in my last 2 pregnancies, i was working right up to the day before i delivered! this time however, the MIL strongly advised that i take a break earlier just in case the contractions start while i'm in office and i'm not able to reach the hospital in time. this being the 3rd kid, i'll probably have a shorter labour since the body's already quite used to the whole labour/delivery process.

i was so bored i actually ransacked my bookshelves and thumbed through some dizzy light-reading material - about half a dozen sweet valley high special edition books - Perfect Summer, Special Christmas, Spring Break, Malibu Summer, Winter Carnival, Spring Fever. hmmph. sugar-coated teenage romance books. can't believe i actually read these books when i was younger!!!

the hub's equally frustrated and he's been on "standby" the whole week, working from home whenever possible. and on wednesday, when he had to pop by the office for a few hours, i went along (with my bag in the car), just in case. he's worried that he'd be caught in a presentation and won't be able to rush home in time to take me to the hospital. or, in the event that i make my way there on my own, he won't be present during the crucial moments of terrorliza's delivery and miss the action altogether.

the poor, sweet hub. i know he's not able to sleep well (that makes 2 of us) because he's subconsciously preparing to wake up in the middle of the night if my membranes are ruptured and labour starts. although i won't deliver immediately (only in the movies/tv will you see it happening folks) and there'll probably a good 4-5 hours to spare, the hub doesn't wanna take chances.

well, it's terrorliza's call. perhaps she isn't so eager to join in her sisters' cat fights and frays, and wants to hold out for as long as possible. anyway, my little terrorliza can't hide inside forever - if she's still there after 40 weeks, she'll be forced out.

now if only i can play the waiting game properly.

AAAAARRGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
