a new terror in town

after 2 false alarms and getting us all flustered and wondering if she's ever going to get out of my womb...terrorliza's FINALLY out!

although we haven't officially registered her birth/name, terrorliza will be called shuwei.

it's been nearly a week since my little bundle of terror said hello to the world - 18 april 2008, friday, to be precise. i had a little "show" in the morning and decided to visit dr. lim who asked me to be warded straightaway. she had another operation at 11am, so once i was in the delivery ward, she ruptured my water bag and the contractions started. dr lim figured that she should be all ready by 1pm to deliver the baby. her estimation couldn't have been better!

as usual, my labour was pretty short and intense. i decided to be foolhardy for the 3rd time and opted not to take the epidural. initially i relied on the gas. however, i chickened out when i realised i didn't have the stamina and endurance so i asked for a pethidine jab in the thigh. (not that it helped relief the pain much, but it was more a placebo effect).

perhaps i started inhaling the gas too early, but when it was time to really push, i was rather groggy, woozy and exhausted, and during those agonising moments, i was fraught with panic attacks of not having the strength to deliver naturally, and dr lim may have to perform an emergency c-section! i think that thought spurred me on and and just before 2pm, i managed to push the baby out.

you can imagine my immense relief when the baby slithered out!

terrorliza weighed 3.515kg at birth, much heavier than i expected, and of course, bigger than her sisters. and naturally with her "size", she's a real demanding milk-guzzler. i don't exactly know how much she drinks since i'm breastfeeding (obviously) and can't measure the amount she consumes.

i had a few visitors at the hospital, including one student who's obviously decided to humiliate me by posting super duper unglam shots of me in my pjs at the hospital in his blog. he'd "touched up" the photos to make me less tired, so you can imagine the originals. sigh.

right now, i'm lucky to still be in ONE piece - handling 3 kids is a huge challenge, that i can tell you. it's especially tough with wen who's used to being the youngest in the family and now that her status is upgraded she's trying to adapt. plus she's extra sticky to me, as can be expected as she's now got "competition". i dunno how others manage it though. i've got MIL and the domestic helper around for assistance, yet for the most part, i'm crumbling. the hub's been a great support too, and so have my parents.

i'm really too exhausted to continue any further. am not feeling well today. had the chills last night and was shivering throughout. (i suspect its a breast infection as my milk came in 2 days ago and the milk machines were engorged.) today's been horrid - feverish chills, no appetite and every muscle in my body aches. my MIL's theory is that i've been exposed too much to wind, and i shouldn't bathe so often!

so i'm not into receiving visitors now because i'm stinky and filthy. i reek of breast milk and sweat. it's the 1 month jail term, i mean, confinement that's causing me endless / unbearable suffering. plus i'm under the watchful hawk-eye of the MIL who screams when i forget to wear my slippers and doesn't allow me to wash my hair.

AAARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

need. some. rest. now.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........
