As I reach the tail-end of my 30s I've become more conscious of our mortality. Gone are my days where Valentine's Day is celebrated with gifts, chocolates and expensive flowers. These days I'm just happy that my loved ones are in good health and we can live to see another day.
This is for my wonderful husband, the unfortunate soul who's bound to me till we're parted by the Grim Reaper.
By My Side
We never really decided this
You and I
It just happened
We never discussed
We simply accepted
And that's that
Even when we're away from home
We naturally gravitate
To our respective areas
My side
Your side
No exchange of words
We shared this arrangement
For as long as I recall
Since our days together
Over a decade
Or so
And counting
We'll stick to this for as long as we can
Though I can't imagine
The day I turn
And face emptiness
I do think about it sometimes
And wonder how I'll get by
