Wake Me Up When September Ends

We're midway through September and I still haven written about the most exciting event that took place in August!

I'm really saving the entry for a day when I'm really in a mood to write.

Sadly, this day may never come. At least not within the next few days because we're right in the middle of examination processing and the Board of Examiners' Meet is on Tuesday. For this examination cycle, I'm back to the Assistant Year Leader post (Yay!) which means I'll be writing the minutes instead of doing up the report which includes working with numbers (Yay! Yay!).

Right now, I'm sick with a dreadful cough, pounding headache topped off with nasty abdominal cramps. It got so bad this morning that I was kneeling on my office chair, clutching to a cushion with my head on the table. I was in serious pain and it honestly felt like I was experiencing contractions before childbirth.

The cramps eventually subsided after I took my medication. My colleague who sits in the opposite cubicle, a very concerned Ms Kool, bought me a packet of chicken rice (de-skinned, with plain white rice) as I couldn't walk out for lunch. It was tasteless.

Then again, everything I'd eaten since last week seemed unappetising and bland. I hadn't had much of an appetite and should have known that I was falling ill. I realised I was extremely sick when I turned away from chocolates without any tinge of regret.

Despite of my discomfort, I really had no choice but to stick around because of some exam procedures that needed to be settled before the exam results could be processed by the system. And everything could only be done during a specific time frame. Thankfully, I was feeling much better in the middle of the afternoon and proceeded to assist my Year Leader with compiling some tables for his report.

Now I'm back home and feeling much better. Had my bath and dinner, and am enjoying some "me" time while the kids are at my folks' place. They should be back soon though...

Anyway, I read one of Miss Ene's tweets about a Green Day song which I love, Wake Me Up When September Ends and posted a comment. She promptly send a music file over - "something to help with the marking". I'm not sure about other teachers and lecturers, but I usually play my favourite songs when I'm grading papers to put me in a better mood ;)
